About this role
As an HGV Class 2 Driver at GAP Group, you will be at the heart of our operations delivering essential equipment like diggers, dumpers, and power tools to construction, utilities, and infrastructure sites across the UK. Your driving skills make a real impact every day, keeping projects running smoothly.
You will load, deliver, and collect hire equipment safely and professionally, often demonstrating kit on-site and ensuring all checks and paperwork are completed accurately. Daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance are also key parts of the role to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
Based in the Plant & Tools Division, you will work alongside a dedicated team, supporting customers nationwide with professional service. Whether navigating busy city streets or remote rural roads, your role is key to keeping the industry moving.
You will join an industry leader that is growing and genuinely committed to your success, with nearly 200 locations nationwide. This permanent full-time position offers stable hours and the opportunity to contribute to projects big and small across the UK.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence with Category C (HGV) entitlement essential
- Proven experience in a driving role, ideally delivering plant or tool equipment
- Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to complete paperwork accurately
- A professional, friendly approach when dealing with customers and colleagues
- Ability to safely load and secure equipment using correct strapping methods
- Competence in using digital tachographs in line with legislation
Responsibilities
- Deliver and collect plant equipment to and from customer sites, completing all paperwork accurately including damage checks, fuel levels, and authorised signatures
- Start machines on-site when requested and demonstrate equipment use where needed
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance to ensure roadworthiness and safety
- Safely load and unload equipment using correct strapping and securing methods
- Tag damaged machines on return and place them in the correct depot area
- Maintain a clean and organised vehicle and support general depot duties
- Follow customer site Health & Safety rules and use digital tachographs in line with legislation
