About this role
The Sourcing Manager, Direct Materials is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, executing on sourcing initiatives, and managing sourcing activities in the Americas within a specific category. This role has commercial responsibility for a subset of material commodities including acids, solvents, and surfactants.
In this role, you will manage approximately $50-75M in spend per year, leveraging market intelligence and analyses to identify sourcing opportunities and mitigate supply risks. You will develop and maintain a rolling 36-month sourcing strategy and project roadmap, driving execution through RFI/RFQ, supplier qualification, negotiations, and auctions.
You will collaborate closely with product management, commercial, and operations teams to ensure alignment on sourcing strategies and share relevant market intelligence. Maintaining strong relationships with key vendors is essential, as is addressing vendor-related issues such as pricing and performance concerns.
This remote role offers the flexibility to work from home with a preference for CST or EST time zone candidates. You will have the opportunity to directly impact the company's cost structure and supply chain resilience while working with a global leader in the life sciences and advanced technologies supply chain.
Requirements
- Minimum of seven (7) years of total related experience required
- Minimum of five (5) years of related procurement, operational, or commercial experience in the chemical or pharmaceutical industries
- Ability to lead internal cross-functional meetings and external supplier business reviews
- Strategic mindset with the ability to execute hands-on
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Can-do mindset, creative, solution-focused, and action-oriented
- Experience with matrixed global project responsibility preferred
- SAP experience and advanced Microsoft Excel skills highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Develop and present sourcing strategies to reduce category cost and mitigate supply risk in partnership with the Director of Direct Sourcing
- Manage approximately $50-75M in annual spend for a subset of chemical commodities including acids, solvents, and surfactants
- Leverage market intelligence, spend analysis, commodity pricing forecasts, and contract coverage analysis to identify opportunities and risks
- Collaborate with product management, commercial, and operations teams to align sourcing strategies and share market intelligence
- Develop and maintain a rolling 36-month sourcing strategy and project roadmap with savings estimates and execution plans
- Drive execution of category sourcing strategies including RFI/RFQ, supplier qualification, auction rounds, and negotiations
- Maintain relationships with key vendors and address vendor-related issues such as pricing and performance concerns
- Monitor category spend to ensure sourcing savings are captured and do not erode over time
