About this role
Our GFL Liquids Team seeks a Class 1 Super B Tank Truck Driver to transport liquid waste from customer sites across western Canada. The role primarily involves operating a Super B combination in mountainous terrain. Candidates must be comfortable with overnight stays in the truck as needed.
Oversee cargo handling, secure loads, and perform trip inspections to ensure safety and roadworthiness. Comply with legislation on hours of service, dangerous goods, and weights/dimensions. Maneuver trucks into loading positions and check documentation for accuracy.
This safety-sensitive position runs Monday through Friday with possible weekends and out-of-town work. Bases include Edmonton, Airdrie, BC Lower Mainland, or BC Interior. LOA and travel support provided for overnights and extended trips.
Maintain logs, manifests, and communicate with customers and coworkers. Provide feedback on mechanical or delivery issues and train others when required. Handle loading, unloading, cleanup, and other duties to support operations.
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 Commercial Driving License and clean Commercial Driving Abstract for the past 5 years
- Super B and fluid hauling experience required
- Mountain driving experience required
- Must be able to operate a manual transmission truck
- Experience working in a safety sensitive environment
- Must successfully pass pre-hire and site-specific drug and alcohol screenings
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Self-motivated attitude
Responsibilities
- Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation and compliance with regulations
- Perform trip inspections on equipment operated and loaded, ensuring safety and roadworthiness
- Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, hours of service, dangerous goods, and weights/dimensions
- Manoeuvre trucks into loading or unloading positions and check positioning
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring load security before, during, and after delivery
- Maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service, and required documentation like logbooks and manifests
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage
- Deliver product and proper paperwork to customers in a courteous and timely manner
