About this role

The Supply Chain & Logistics Analyst is responsible for analyzing, optimizing, and improving end-to-end supply chain operations across the mill. This role focuses on cost reduction, operational efficiency, and strategic logistics planning, including scrap flow, inbound/outbound materials, and transportation performance. Partners with internal departments and external vendors to drive data-driven decisions.

Daily tasks involve analyzing the full supply chain lifecycle to identify cost-saving opportunities and inefficiencies. Evaluates logistics spending, maps material flows, and assesses scrap movement for optimal efficiency. Develops data models, dashboards, and reports to track key metrics like cost, throughput, and vendor performance.

Collaborates with operations, finance, procurement, and transportation teams to align logistics strategies with business goals. Analyzes carrier performance and freight trends in a fast-paced industrial environment. Ensures accuracy and compliance in shipping documentation and contracts.

Supports budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mill productivity and profitability. Researches software solutions for improved supply chain visibility and management. Recommends alternative equipment, processes, or technologies to leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s (4-year degree) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify actionable insights
  • Experience with supply chain mapping, process improvement, and cost analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with ERP systems or supply chain software is a plus
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to leadership
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, industrial environment
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in steel manufacturing, heavy industry, or scrap/recycling operations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Analyze the full supply chain lifecycle (procurement, transportation, inventory, and distribution) to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies
  • Evaluate logistics and transportation spending to identify areas for cost reduction and improved service performance
  • Assess and optimize the movement of scrap throughout the mill to ensure efficient and cost-effective flow
  • Map and document inbound and outbound material flows including raw materials, scrap, and finished goods to identify bottlenecks
  • Develop and maintain data models, dashboards, and reports to track key supply chain metrics
  • Collaborate with operations, finance, procurement, and transportation teams to align logistics strategies
  • Analyze carrier performance, freight trends, and routing strategies to optimize transportation networks
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain and logistics functions
