Senior Cost Accounting Analyst

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; CPA or CMA in progress or completed is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, or supply chain finance — or equivalent relevant experience in a high-growth or operationally complex environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to monitor and analyze purchase price, production, and quantity variances.
• Experience with standard cost processes, including BOM reviews, new SKU setups, and ERP uploads.
• Proficiency in month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reserves, and account reconciliations.
• Knowledge of GAAP compliance and internal controls, with experience supporting SOX testing and audits.
• Ability to partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Supply Chain Controllership, and Operations to explain budget-to-actual variances.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset for identifying process improvements and building scalable cost accounting infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close for cost accounting — prepare and post journal entries including accruals, reserves, reclassifications, and allocations across multiple business segments and legal entities.
• Lead inventory reserve management — review and maintain excess and obsolescence reserves, produce reserve summary reports, and support inventory reconciliation activities.
• Drive cost variance analysis — monitor and analyze purchase price, production, and quantity variances; identify root causes; and communicate findings to business partners and leadership.
• Support standard cost processes — assist with standard cost uploads in the ERP system, including monthly BOM reviews, new SKU setups, and ongoing variance monitoring.
• Prepare management reporting packages — collect and analyze cost data to support business decision-making and prepare periodic cost variance reports comparing standard to actual costs.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and audit readiness — perform account reconciliations, document cost accounting processes in adherence to internal controls, and support SOX testing and annual physical inventory count activities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally — partner with FP&A, Global Supply Chain Controllership, and Operations to explain budget-to-actual variances and serve as a resource on cost accounting treatment and inventory transactions.
• Contribute to process improvement — proactively identify opportunities to streamline close processes, improve reporting accuracy, and build scalable cost accounting infrastructure.
