About this role
Under limited supervision, the Strategic Sourcing Manager supports Interstate Batteries’ success by developing, executing, and optimizing global sourcing strategies across international supplier networks. This role serves as the primary interface with global suppliers and is critical in driving international category strategy, global sourcing execution, and commercial negotiations.
Day-to-day, the manager owns and manages global spend across assigned international categories while developing comprehensive global category strategies that reflect geopolitical factors and market conditions. They establish collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure aligned sourcing decisions and provide strategic recommendations to Supply Chain Leadership.
The role serves as the primary point of contact for managing international supplier relationships and expanding influence with global partners to drive innovation and sustainability. It involves resolving contractual obligations, cost analyses, and compliance requirements while maintaining supplier documentation. This position works with Procurement Operations and Planning to integrate global demand forecasts and assess supply risks.
This position provides strategic recommendations on international category strategies and long-term global supply positioning. The manager collaborates with leadership on supplier transitions and international business initiatives, driving measurable improvements in cost, quality, and supply assurance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in global sourcing and supplier relationship management.
- Deep understanding of international trade regulations, customs compliance, and cross-border logistics.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to leverage data and market intelligence for strategic decisions.
- Experience negotiating complex international contracts and agreements.
- Knowledge of global category management and strategic sourcing best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple international suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Proficiency in sourcing metrics, dashboards, and cost analysis.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage global spend across assigned international categories.
- Develop comprehensive global category strategies that reflect geopolitical factors, trade regulations, currency impacts, and global market conditions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for managing international supplier relationships across assigned categories.
- Lead supplier evaluation, selection, negotiation, and contract development for international supply agreements.
- Resolve international contractual obligations, cost and price analyses, and compliance requirements related to global trade.
- Partner with Procurement Operations to execute RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs for global suppliers.
- Collaborate with Planning to integrate global demand forecasts and assess international supply risks.
- Provide root‑cause analysis, variance explanations, and strategic recommendations tied to global market fluctuations.
