At Rolls-Royce, a business shaping the modern world and committed to progress, the Fleet Manager ensures maximum fleet availability for customers in London, Bristol and Plymouth. This role involves effective management and reporting on maintenance, repair and service of rolling stock powerpacks. You will report to the Vice President of Rail and embrace digitalisation.

Daily responsibilities include leading a team of engineers to meet HSQE standards, owning risk assessments, and creating periodic KPI performance reports. You will conduct fleet planning for QL3 and QL4, long-term planning for QL1 exams, and provisioning for QL2 requirements. Proactive customer relationship management covers all fleet issues.

Align scheduled and reactive workloads with depot supervisors, plan swing units, and liaise with Value Care Agreement managers. Communication spans project teams, 2nd level organization, and headquarters. The team structure varies by fleet size, location, customers, and contracts.

Requirements

  • From an engineering / service background
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or Equivalent
  • Relevant managerial operational competencies
  • Technical knowledge of engines
  • Ability to identify and manage stakeholders
  • Strategic / forward thinking and a customer orientated approach
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly XLS, Word and email
  • Drives a strong health and safety culture

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all HSQE standards are met and encourage improvements through near miss reporting and leadership safety walks; own risk assessment review and creation
  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, team leaders and supervisors
  • Create and roll out internal KPI performance reporting on a periodic basis
  • Conduct fleet planning for QL3 and QL4; long term planning for QL1 exams
  • Ensure effective provisioning and resourcing for potential QL2 requirements
  • Provide proactive customer relationship management to cover all fleet issues
  • Plan and allocate swing units and align scheduled/reactive workload with depot workforce
  • Liaise with Value Care Agreement manager for MFN contracts and act as VCA manager for MUK contracts
