About this role

Arrange, track and communicate the status of transportation on the pickup and delivery sides for customer goods. This includes outbound from suppliers and HUB locations, inbound to Armada’s redistribution facilities, customer distribution centers, and manufacturing centers.

Utilize Armada’s preferred carriers and Transportation Management System (TMS) to optimize service, secure capacity, and select the best mode. Daily tasks involve assigning and tendering shipments, monitoring on-time pickups via TMS, and proactively following up to resolve issues before they escalate.

Coordinate first response activity for pickup and in-transit problems, assist carriers with loading and appointment issues, and manage date change requests. Work within a weekend shift rotation and alternate shifts as needed, while maintaining clear communication with shipping locations and carriers through phone and email.

Analyze shipping processes for improvement, develop supplier and carrier relationships, and manage the Transportation Planning Tool to consolidate LTL shipments. Become well-versed in all Operational Standard Operating Procedures and the Business Continuity Plan to ensure seamless operations.

Requirements

  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) such as MercuryGate.
  • Familiarity with 24TRACC Loads at Risk application and carrier web sites to identify late loads.
  • Ability to manage carrier relationships and resolve loading, appointment, and in-transit issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook for email and notification management.
  • Analytical skills to review shipping processes and recommend improvements.
  • Understanding of supply chain transportation operations including LTL and truckload consolidation.
  • Willingness to work within a weekend shift rotation and alternate shifts during the week as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and tender shipments to Armada’s preferred carriers using the Transportation Management System (TMS) to optimize service, capacity, and cost.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure on-time pickup utilizing TMS and proactively follow up to secure desired service results.
  • Coordinate first response activity to resolve pickup and in-transit issues, escalating as needed to the appropriate manager or Senior Supply Chain Coordinator.
  • Manage MercuryGate (TMS) notifications and network email communication through Microsoft Outlook.
  • Analyze existing shipping processes for possible improvements and support implementation plans for ongoing productivity gains.
  • Manage the Transportation Planning Tool (TPT) to organize and consolidate LTL shipments into truckloads for improved transit times and reduced expense.
  • Coordinate return disposition of refused or returned goods as required.
