About this role
This role leads the Logistics & Shipping organization for Solar Turbines, overseeing the coordination and execution of domestic and international shipments for large-scale turbomachinery products. The manager ensures safe, compliant, and cost-effective delivery to customers across global markets, including complex oversized and project cargo operations.
Day-to-day responsibilities include leading a diverse team of logistics professionals and hourly employees responsible for packing, shipping, and loading operations. The manager provides direction, prioritizes work, and ensures accountability for team performance while fostering a culture of safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.
The position requires strong leadership and operational expertise to manage end-to-end logistics activities, collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and customers to align schedules and requirements. The manager anticipates and resolves logistical challenges for complex deliveries, such as port restrictions and site access constraints.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain with strong exposure to heavy, oversized, or project cargo.
- 5+ years of proven experience leading or supervising teams (direct people management or strong functional leadership).
- Experience with domestic and international shipping operations, including customs and export compliance.
- Strong knowledge of freight forwarding, carrier management, and logistics planning.
- Knowledge of route surveys, permitting, and heavy-haul transportation requirements (preferred).
- Substantial experience managing personnel with a strong track record of leading teams, driving accountability, and developing talent (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Select, develop, and motivate team members to set and meet business priorities and customer deliveries.
- Foster a culture of safety, customer service, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Provide direction, prioritize work, and ensure accountability for team performance.
- Plan and oversee end-to-end logistics for turbomachinery shipments, including oversized, heavy-haul, and project cargo.
- Develop and execute logistics strategies to ensure on-time delivery while optimizing cost and performance.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, export controls, and documentation.
- Mitigate risks related to global shipping disruptions, geopolitical constraints, and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and customers to align schedules and requirements.
