About this role

As the QE Logistics Manager at Qantas, you will lead end-to-end global logistics operations that directly impact aircraft availability and operational continuity. This critical leadership role operates at the intersection of Supply Chain, Engineering, and Commercial Management.

You will own and optimise approximately $50M in logistics spend across a complex, high-stakes, regulated environment. Day-to-day, you will oversee a global logistics network, freight and freight forwarding providers, ensuring reliable, compliant, and cost-effective outcomes in a highly regulated, safety-critical setting.

Beyond daily operations, you will drive transformation initiatives and shape the future of logistics capability within Qantas Engineering. You will contribute to new system design and implementation, building future-ready logistics capability aligned to evolving engineering and operational demands.

This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity based in Sydney, where you will join a team that encourages creativity and passion. Your development is a priority, supported from day one with on-the-job training and coaching as well as formal training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in logistics, financial control, and freight operations within a complex, regulated environment
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing large operational budgets and supplier performance
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, including customs, hazardous materials, and transport compliance
  • Proven ability to lead transformation and influence outcomes across cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with a focus on building team capability and driving high on-time performance

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end logistics operations across global freight networks, ensuring on-time delivery and continuity of supply
  • Manage over $50M in logistics spend, driving commercial outcomes and cost optimisation initiatives
  • Own regulatory compliance across customs, aviation security, dangerous goods, and Chain of Responsibility frameworks
  • Lead supplier strategy and performance across external partners and logistics providers
  • Drive transformation initiatives, including system integration and process improvement programs
  • Build and develop a high-performing team with strong capability in logistics, compliance, and analytics
